This stall in IFRS convergence does not come as much of a surprise considering the hostile political climate and various other challenges thoughtfully mentioned above.

Alas, as a current CPA exam candidate, I must continue my efforts in preparation for a day that will (likely) never come.

I find myself in rare company with you. Thank you for providing your "emperor has no clothes" analysis on this topic. I pray you are correct in your conclusion. For my own part, much time has been wasted because Christopher Cox was ill-suited to be SEC chairman. It was his initial leadership (or lack thereof) that put us on this road "to the knacker's yard" as you say.
